Yoga exported to the West was and is mostly in its physical dimension where unknowingly (or rather knowingly) became readily accepted in that which was visible, package-able and marketable. It created multi-billion businesses in (several cases useless) paraphernalia and props. In that surging frenzy, we at home, fell into that trap to popularize that which was essentially reserved for the eligible. Just imagine you wish to study medicine, law, engineering or any specific field you ought to be eligible for that. It cannot be that just because it has become popular and elite you jump into the bandwagon. But, it has been exactly like this … thousands have flocked into Yoga as an enormous herd of cattle not understanding that Yoga is something far beyond ordinary!
Its profound philosophy of the harmony between the mind and and body through understanding and practice of its principles based on the Yoga Sutras was somehow brushed under and never given its due importance in mainstream Yoga study and practice.
Today, however, there is a surge in demand for the study of the Yoga sutras, not only in academic circles but by people from various countries, professions, ages and has heralded a renewed zest to revive the ancient knowledge.
My new book, published by Zen Publishers and will be released in December 2018. It is a unique booklet which introduces the sutras briefly and simply. The Yoga sutras are presented in Devanagari script, English transliteration, word to word meanings, a brief one-sentence meaning of each sutra and my personal affirmations of the practice behind each sutra.
It will be a treasure that you can easily carry around with you to help memorize the sutras and reflect on their meanings and what you can do to practice the teachings.
The book will be available on Amazon, Flipkart and directly through the publisher or you may contact me.
